About the VI Form

The joint VI form currently has over 540 students from all over the Isle of Wight. Since the buildings were handed over to us on 1 September 2011, the facilities have been significantly enhanced and are of a standard to rival any learning institution. Students and teachers have access to very good facilities in an environment that many have already remarked “is like a university”. However, the best way to appreciate the Campus is to visit us and see the VI Form in action.

Students have access to a wide range of A level provision with the Joint VI form having the ability to offer minority subjects which could not be supported with fewer students; nevertheless, a minimum of six to ten students (depending on the subject) will be required to ensure a course will run. Already this year, there is much interest amongst Year 11 students in the International Baccalaureate qualification. The IB is highly regarded world-wide and provides students with the opportunity to study six subjects as well as develop the independent study skills required for university.

There are excellent opportunities for students to participate in a wide range of extra curricular provision including the renowned Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, a pre-driver training course, sporting activities and drama/ musical shows and productions. Already this year, our Year 12 students have benefitted from a day at UKSA where they experienced a range of off-shore and on-shore activities. All VI form students are benefitting from the opportunities presented by our Trust partners such as working with professional Artists on exhibition pieces, Health Care specialists and University lectures and professors.
